I decided that taking my shock back to Traxxion Dynamics would be a bad idea and instead sent it to Cycle Werx in North Carolina. After several phone conversations with Santo DeRisi, the owner, I felt confident that he knows his stuff! Not only did Santo replace the seals and o-rings, but he also replaced the shock body and inertia valve with new parts. Before shipping it back he assured me, "You basically have a new shock." I've ridden with it for 3 months and it holds air and works great! I'm very happy with Cycle Werx and will definitely do business with them in the future!
Last year, I took my Specialized S-Works fork and shock to Traxxion Dynamics for servicing. It was NOT a good experience, and after everything was said and done, I feel like I wasted $400.00!
Forks and shocks rebuilt. They look brand new after being installed 40,000 miles ago. Shock dyno charts and baseline settings included withe the paperwork. First rate experience!
I have over 30 years of mechanical experience and my phone conversations with Brian left me questioning his level of experience and expertise. It seems he knows how to replace seals and o-rings, but not hard parts. It took over 3 weeks before he called to tell me my fork and shock were ready for pickup.
Waste of money on my forks! Got them back and the bike is the same height.
Took my track bike here for a Penske shock and re-working my factory forks. Great customers service and good work all around.
On the second ride after putting my bike back together, I wanted to adjust the fork setting, but the lower adjustment knob had come off. I called Brian and he gave me this blah, blah, blah that the knob has a very small set screw, and it’s hard to tighten because it takes a small allen wrench, and that I could use some vise grips to adjust the fork until I get another knob. I replied that I would never use vise grips because it might permanently damage the rod, but he didn't seem to understand that. Anyway, after 3 more phone calls, I had to take an afternoon off from work and drive back out to Woodstock to get a replacement knob - which I installed myself with a drop of Loctite, and haven’t had a problem since!
Bad Experience!
When I dropped my things off, I asked Brian if in addition to the standard servicing, could he replace the rear shock body because it had some nicks that were allowing oil to leak past the seal. He said it would take "a week or so." I called 2 weeks later to see if my stuff was ready and he said he was looking for the part on ebay... I thought, “Is he just going to keep my shock until a part shows up on ebay?!?” After getting into a discussion about it that seemed to be going nowhere, I told him to skip it.
An awesome, friendly staff that does an incredible job transforming motorcycles with poor oem suspension into bikes that ride and handle like a dream!
The service interval recommended by Specialized is 100 hours (I've actually gone over twice that before with no problems). Before I reached the 100 hour mark, the back shock started bouncing around like a pogo stick (never had that happen). I called Brian to ask what would cause that, but he didn’t have a clue – he just said to bring it back in.
