We LOVE this place! It lives up to its name! Some people complain about the prices- did you notice the size of the portion you got?!?! And some places sacrifice taste for size. Not this place- amazing donuts, pastries, and cake.
The owner Ross just does not care about his customers. They have tasty items but I can not support a merchant who just couldn't give a darn about his customers. They closed an hour early the day before Thanksgiving without notifying anyone that had baked goods on order, holiday pies and sides. We showed up at 3:20 (all signage and website shows 4 p.m. close time) to locked doors and there were half a dozen other customers there not understanding why the doors were locked as they had pre-ordered items that needed to be picked up. When I spoke to him the next week he could have cared less that I was unhappy or anyone else for that matter. Please do not support a merchant with this type of attitude. Alpine Bakery on Highway 5 is outstanding. They have given great customer service and saved the day.
I purchased two cakes at the bakery today. Both exceeded expectations. The first cake was a watermelon cake. The baker got EVERYTHING right and it was picture perfect. All of the guests loved the frosting and thought it was fun that the inside of the cake also looked like a watermelon. The second cake was my son's first birthday smash cake. It was so cute and had a "homemade" look to it. I usually get donuts from this bakery but I will always make sure to buy my party cakes from here too. They pay attention to detail and make the best cakes I have ever had.
After remitting a $12.72 payment for a total of 6-regular glazed donuts, I selected between 5-7 napkins. Immediately, the woman (I didn't take her name) working the cash register grabbed my napkins and took 3 napkins and stated " These napkins costed the bakery money, you don't need that many". I asked for the store manager/owner and she stated "Oh, He's going to tell you the same thing", which he did. During the conversation with the manager/owner, I asked what is the price for the napkins, and he stated "The napkins are free". My point exactly. I will pay for quality, but when a business is not conscious on providing an exceptional customer experience, "that" business will no longer receive my service. Poor, poor, poor experience.
I have never had a bad experience here. I always do my best to try new things every time. Honestly, it doesn't matter what you get it will be delicious. The turtle cheesecake was my favorite this time. Definitely a must when I'm in town!!! Can't wait to visit again!
